Jordan and UAE in the same year was not a dream that I harvested. It just happened. While Petra was the calling for Jordan, Dubai became an obsession with kids and they buttered us to making a plan. Refer to my blog on Jordan- food you will know how the Middle-Eastern food served there had me licking my fingers all the time. The same cannot be said for Dubai. There were very few authentic Middle- Eastern dishes served in the buffet, the vegetables used in salads were not farm-fresh, Falafels were always absent, breads were half as good. One Middle- Eastern dish that was served here and was not found in Jordan Was Shanklish
Shanklish
Shanklish is Middle Eastern Cheese made from yoghurt whey, it is shaped into balls and aged. Once matured, it is coated with dried thyme or chilli. While serving the balls are crumbled and served with chopped onions, tomatoes and olive oil. The best way to enjoy it is with Arabic bread and eaten by hand.

Dubai is the most populous Emirate in UAE, it has emerged as a Business Hub for the Middle East. With an expatriate population of more than 80%, Dubai is also a hub for International cuisines and food can definitely be a reason for you to choose Dubai as your next holiday destination.
These flat cakes very much French in taste were served at the Atlantis The Palm buffet. There was so much to choose from that this one found an entry to my mouth after the napkin was out of my lap. They were nectarous, soft, freshly baked, not overly- sugary and what started out with a bite ended up being five bites and gone! Now most dishes came with name plates, but this one was anonymous. I spoke to the chef, he told me this is a French cake called, Galaite. I did some research and found that the French cake supposedly looking like these are Galette Des Roi. If you happened to know what these cakes are do leave a comment.
Dubai Mall
Refer to my Dubai blog under 'TRAVEL' you will know that the 7 days 7 nights itinerary was so packed that it left little gaps to travel here and there for gourmet lunches and dinners. No two ways about the fact that' food ' is the best way to savor a place but a trip with the kids and for the kids does not work with this rationale. While I carried lists of some desirable cafes and restaurants in print, could not visit them as most of them were in Jumeirah but what worked best for all of us was in Dubai Mall. I must congratulate the brick and mortar that holds this reserve of the most fascinating produce displayed in the most charming way that had eyes rolling, mouth salivating and tongue licking....Look at the pictures below to know HOW?
