Location of the wild deer park
This park is located in the Thar desert of India in the state of Rajasthan, in the Churru district. It is well connected by road from the state capital Jaipur (210km) and just a few minutes away from nearby railway station Sujangarh. The park is right on the highway so look for the boards and stop at the guest house attached to the sanctuary to eat or excrete as nothing is available in the park - no refreshment and no rest rooms
In the wild - boundary-less pleasure
As soon as I entered the park I was awed by its openness and extensiveness. A small road runs in the middle of the grassland and you can stop the car anywhere (no parking-lot botheration) to see the Wild- Boars. You will be see herds of deer, on the either side of the road and you can get as close to them as you want. Only, when you start walking towards them you realise that they are much further than anticipated by you; beyond a point you are fearful to go nearer as they are no where close to looking docile and they just too many in a herd.
The game
I felt favoured at this wild park which is highly uncommon for my family; I witnessed locking of horns between two deer. It was highly dramatic to see two deer standing in front of bystanders of its own kind and lock its elegant horns with such brawniness and robustness that the sound and vibration was felt meters away where I was standing. It did look like a rehearsed show as the couple literally locked horns in a highly synchronised way ; they faced each other, looked down again faced each other and then only and only by their horns they contested.
Freedom in the wild
There are no security booths, restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops and long queues at this park that makes it a great experience. I was there at 9. 30 am and stayed up to 1.00 pm and I came across only two or three cars in the park. The park officers have a mobile house which they use to guard the park from different areas. If you are a person who likes rustic openness, virgin land and wild animals ( only deer) than a trip to this place is worth every penny you spend.
Mothiya and desert grass land
Mothiya is a special grass that looks like pearl and is seasonally found at this park. This is rare grass and is found only at few places in the world and it is the food of wild boar. The desert terrain shows a variety of crop from dried grass to green grass to grassless land with areas without any trees and some places with trees scattered here and there. There is a very shallow little water hole also but I guess wild boars are not fond of water, they have left it for elephants to enjoy. ( sorry to confuse you but this park has no elephants)
Birds
I was in this park at the on set of winters and it is the time for migratory birds of a large variety to be there but I was not very lucky as I could not spot any rare bird. Also, I was so mesmerised with the deer that I forgot all about the birds and left the park highly satisfied with the experience.
